Security and Logistics for the NEET-UG Mock Drill

The National Testing Agency is gearing up for something massive. They’re running a nationwide mock drill this Saturday. It’s all in preparation for the NEET-UG re-examination coming up on June 21st.
This isn't just some little rehearsal, though. They are implementing what authorities are calling one of the most extensive security arrangements ever seen for a national entrance test. The scale is huge.
The full rehearsal itself will run from nine in the morning until eight at night. It simulates everything. From handing out question papers to actually collecting and moving those answer sheets around. A lot of logistical choreography happening behind the scenes.
We’re talking about over five thousand five hundred examination centers scattered all across the country. They've all been tagged as high-security zones now. How they are securing this? It’s a three-tier system. District administrations, state police forces, and central government special security teams. A lot of layers involved just to keep things managed.
The manpower deployment is staggering too. Officials mentioned that between two lakh and two point five lakh police personnel will be deployed. They need to secure those centers completely. Maintain order while the test happens.
And then there are the transport details. Around fifteen thousand paramilitary personnel have been tasked with moving the question papers around. And making sure those answer sheets get back safely after everything is done.
For surveillance, they’ve cranked up the tech considerably. They installed an extra one point five lakh CCTV cameras at all these venues. Plus, signal jammers are in place fifteen thousand of them too. Trying to lock down communications wherever the exam is happening.
Everything is being watched live. The NTA headquarters and dedicated control rooms set up across the country are monitoring every single checkpoint in real time. It’s constant oversight.
And the student side? The numbers are enormous. Around twenty-two point eight lakh students registered for this test. One of the biggest entrance exams in the entire nation, you have to admit that.
More candidates have already downloaded their admit cards over eighteen point five lakh names. And some folks opted to move around. About three point five lakh students chose to change where they take the exam, moving centers or cities. That shows the movement happening even before the test starts.
The spread is wide. These exams are being held across more than five thousand five hundred locations. Spread across 551 Indian cities and even fourteen international spots. It’s a massive footprint.
A lot of those testing sites are tucked inside government educational institutions. Ninety-eight point eight per cent of them have been set up there. That makes sense, doesn't it? Trying to bolster security and administrative control right at the source.
Some states were stepping up their end too. Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh they all announced support for students traveling to these specific exam locations. It’s a coordinated effort on state level.
Beyond security, they aren't forgetting the basics of student welfare. Authorities made sure that every center has necessities. Drinking water, electricity supply that doesn’t cut out, backup generators ready to go. First-aid facilities, ambulances, and even portable toilets where needed. It’s all planned out.
There were specific considerations too. Special arrangements were put in place for diabetic candidates. Light snacks are being provided during the actual examination time. Small details matter when you’re managing this kind of operation.
All these elaborate preparations come at a time when scrutiny over national entrance exams is really high. It feels like they are aiming to guarantee that the entire process the test itself is smooth, secure, and completely transparent. Officials stressed that this mock drill isn't just an exercise; it’s about finding any logistical snags or security holes before June 21st arrives. They need to fix anything now.
