Legal Trouble and Controversy Involving Pranit More and Himanshu Jangra

The noise around Pranit More isn't going to quiet down anytime soon. Gurugram police just slapped another FIR on the stand-up comedian. The reason? That ridiculous 'Rs 370 Biryani' comment. But it’s not just about him. Himanshu Jangra , the tech guy who actually made those remarks, is also named in the filing.

Apparently, the two are now facing charges related to normalising sexual coercion and chipping away at women’s dignity. This whole mess kicked off because the National Commission for Women stepped in with a complaint. That was the trigger for the police action.

This isn't the first time things have exploded involving More. Maharashtra Cyber already filed an FIR against him before this latest row. There were other names involved too Himanshu Jangra , Dr Sejal Pawar , and a few others tangled up in that whole situation.

The actual spark? It happened during one of Pranit More’s live shows. Someone in the audience, Himanshu Jangra, got invited into the conversation. He brought up taking a woman out for a date, spending about three hundred and seventy rupees on biryani. But what really set people off was his follow-up. The implication that because he paid for the meal, he expected something intimate back.

A lot of viewers who watched the clip later were furious. They saw it as treating dating like some kind of transaction. Reducing a woman to something you could just ‘earn’ by spending money on food. That feeling that outrage it seems to have been massive.

More finally came out with a statement, sort of trying to smooth things over. He released a video expressing regret about the whole thing.

“This is something I wanted to say for a long time,” he said. “But my Instagram got suspended. Lots of you probably saw that crowd work video. I’ve been getting hate for it. I felt like I deserved some of that. While doing the performance with that guy, he threw around some really derogatory things. Everyone was laughing. I just got carried away. It was a complete lapse in judgment.”

He added something else too. “I feel this was a huge mistake on my part. I could have stopped him right there or stood up for myself. But I didn’t. I gave him a platform, and that just made things worse. To anyone who got hurt by all this, I want to apologize.”

It's all tangled up now. FIRs were registered at the Nodal Cyber Police Station under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita , alongside some bits from the old IT Act . The accusations are serious allegations about obscene, offensive remarks targeting women, consent, and deceased persons. It just keeps getting more complicated.
