You see, it’s always something happening with these big names. It’s not just about the movies anymore. There’s this shadow that follows them the time spent behind bars.
We talk about Salman Khan , for instance. He’s had some rather messy legal chapters over the years. We’re talking about those early incidents, like the blackbuck killings back in '98 during the filming of Hum Sath Sath Hain . That got him a sentence, and he actually spent eighteen days locked up dealing with that charge alone. And don't forget the hit-and-run case from 2002; two years served there too.
Then you have Sanjay Dutt . His story is another one about serious trouble surfacing in Mumbai. The whole bomb blast situation back in '93 caught him, and he ended up with a six-year sentence initially. But the Supreme Court stepped in later, cutting that down to five years. He walked out in 2016.
Rhea Chakraborty ’s case followed a different kind of spotlight entirely. That was tied up with the Narcotics Control Bureau investigation in 2020. A drugs-related probe, you know? She spent about a month in custody there before eventually getting bail through the Bombay High Court. It just keeps popping up these kinds of high-profile legal dramas involving them.
And not just those big names. There are others who found themselves facing serious legal consequences. Take Rajpal Yadav . He dealt with something financial, a business loan issue. That led to him serving ten days in Tihar Jail in 2013. Later, three months in civil prison came along in 2018 because of that repayment trouble for that five crore loan.
Fardeen Khan also had some detentions earlier on. Mumbai Police detained him in 2001 over drug possession charges. He was out pretty quickly, released after just three days. There was a session court ruling in 2012 where he got immunity from prosecution. It’s a lot of movement and different kinds of trouble, really.
Shiney Ahuja also had a tough time. A rape case involving his domestic help led to him getting sentenced seven years in prison by a special fast-track court back in 2011. Even after that sentence, the Bombay High Court managed to grant him bail.
And there’s Sooraj Pancholi . His situation involved charges related to actor Jiah Khan’s suicide under Section 306 of the IPC in 2013. He got released on bail by July 1st of that year.
It’s a collection, really. Not just one straight line of events, but these separate points where celebrity life bumped right up against the legal system. It shows how complicated things get when you’re in the public eye.
