Mumbai and Maharashtra Deal with Relentless Rain and Flooding

Mumbai is still dealing with the relentless rain.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Chief Minister Fadnavis Wednesday about all the help the Central Government could offer Maharashtra right now. It was an assurance, trying to get some relief moving forward.

Meanwhile, things on the ground are messy. In Andheri, a man got seriously hurt when a tree just crashed down on him Tuesday. Bystanders rushed over immediately. They pulled him from under those fallen branches. Serious injuries.

The rain itself is intense across the state. We’re talking about real havoc. Waterlogging everywhere. Flooding. Traffic completely jammed up.

Mumbai saw an average of 22.39 millimeters between eight in the morning and eight at night on Tuesday. The eastern suburbs got twenty-three point zero four mm. The west side took a bit more, hitting twenty-five point nine three mm during that time frame.

Wednesday brought lighter showers across the city. Still, you could see traffic moving slowly on the Western Express Highway despite the drizzle. It’s just… ongoing.

Up in the sky too. Early morning shots caught those dense clouds over Bandra West. Strong winds were brushing against the trees there. You feel the pressure of it.

But this isn't just Mumbai drama. The rain fury in Maharashtra has been serious all week. Lonavla took a brutal 620 mm in just twenty-four hours alone.

The toll is climbing too. Deaths related to these incidents are up to fifteen now. One fatality from a landslide in Satara, another from lightning strike in Nandurbar. Trees falling, walls collapsing, power lines going out everywhere across the state. It’s chaos amplified by water.

Palghar district has seen at least ten reported deaths since July first. Three more happened just in the last day or so. The situation is deteriorating fast. You just watch the weather updates and wait for the next thing to happen. Keep following those live weather updates, because it’s all moving too quickly.
