Bittu Bajrangi and the Inter-faith Marriage Fraud Scheme

For years, Bittu Bajrangi built his reputation leading campaigns against what they called "love jihad" and inter-faith relationships in Haryana. He was known for that stuff. But then things got twisted. The Gau Raksha Bajrang Force chief ended up being involved in some serious fake marriage fraud. How this whole mess unfolded is kind of wild.

Five people have been arrested now. They allegedly cheated Raj Kumar alias Bittu Bajrangi , the founder of that force. They promised him they’d arrange marriages and took forty-one thousand rupees from him for it.

The Crime Branch of Faridabad Police made the arrests. Danish Chaman, thirty-five. His wife, Mahavish Danish, twenty-seven. Sachin, also twenty-seven. And Sanjeev, fifty-two. They all live in Aligarh. Then there was Pradeep, thirty-four, from Bulandshahr. They were produced before a court on Saturday. They got sent into police custody for more questioning.

Bittu Bajrangi filed the complaint at Sarai Khwaja police station. He said he met this alleged gang through someone he knew, Bantu alias Avinash. That’s where it all started.

Bajrangi, who lives in Sanjay Enclave, Faridabad, asked Bantu to help him find a bride. Just that. Bantu introduced him to some woman named Rani, claimed she could arrange marriages.

Bajrangi told the police he traveled to Aligarh a couple of times looking for potential brides. He said he turned them all down. Then he got a picture of a woman. She was identified as "Pooja." And he aGreed to the proposal.

The complaint said something else happened on September 5 last year. Rani, Mahavish Danish, posing as Pooja and some other relatives allegedly visited Bajrangi’s house in Faridabad. They took eleven thousand rupees then. Engagement money.

The next day, they allegedly demanded another thirty thousand for wedding expenses. They fixed the date: September 7, 2025, at a temple in Aligarh. But when Bajrangi got there on that date? Nobody from the bride’s side showed up. Nothing.

Investigators said the whole family who showed up to Bajrangi was fake. Mahavish Danish acted as "Pooja." Pradeep played the uncle role. Sanjeev pretended to be another relative. Sachin was the middleman, and Danish Chaman pretended to be the bride’s brother. Police suggested they used these kinds of tricks before.

Mahavish Danish has jail time already for cheating cases. Pradeep has been jailed in Aligarh and Dasna in Noida for similar marriage frauds too. It seems this racket is big. They suspect it’s been running across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh maybe other states for years now.

Faridabad Police spokesperson Yashpal said they were doing raids trying to catch Rani alias Lakshmi. She’s thought to be the mastermind behind the whole scheme and she’s still missing. He mentioned that questioning of the arrested people is ongoing. More victims might surface soon.

Bittu Bajrangi's real name is Raj Kumar Panchal. He’s a vegetable vendor who turned into a self-styled cow protector in Faridabad’s Parvatiya Colony. That’s where he heads up the Gau Raksha Bajrang Force.

He got really visible after helping a guy file the first case under Haryana’s anti-conversion law. This happened because his daughter married a Muslim neighbor back in December 2022.

He was also connected to that case involving Sanskriti Shukla. He converted to Islam and married Javed Khan after seven years. They went into hiding because of threats from vigilante groups, including Bajrangi’s own organization.

Bajrangi got national attention later on. That was after he got arrested in connection with the July 31, 2023, Nuh communal violence. Police accused him of brandishing weapons and threatening a senior woman police officer during a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession. He faced charges under several IPC sections and the Arms Act. He eventually got bail. Then in September 2024, he briefly tried politics. He filed as an Independent candidate for the Faridabad NIT Assembly seat before backing BJP’s Satish Kumar Phagna, who ended up winning with over thirty-three thousand votes.
