Nawaz Sharif's Plea for Peace in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir

Nawaz Sharif , President of the PML-N , basically threw an urgent plea out there about the whole messed up situation in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir . He called for peace, seriously.

He held this big party meeting in Lahore on Wednesday, June 17th. And what he did was call out both the protesters down there and the security forces to just stop everything right now. Stop those sit-ins and protests. He wanted them to sit down and actually talk about the constitution stuff instead of just fighting.

This move comes after things got really deadly. A wave of civil unrest, violent clashes it happened across the region ten days before this appeal. People died. Law enforcement officers and civilians alike.

The tension wasn't some abstract thing. It was tied to real pain: high inflation. Skyrocketing utility bills. And a massive argument over those twelve refugee seats in the regional assembly. All of it just piled up, threatening to blow the whole territory apart before the big assembly elections next month.

Sharif said something heavy during that meeting. “This country belongs to all of us,” he insisted. “We have to sort out our problems as brothers.” Then he stressed that any fight for rights public or administrative stuff has to stay inside what the constitution says. Keep it confined.

During that session, you could feel the grief. Sharif was clearly upset about the loss of life. A source close to the party told reporters that the leadership sees all this internal violence and disruption as seriously damaging to the bigger Kashmir cause on the world stage. It matters internationally.

He wasn't just talking internally, though. He pushed for action from everyone involved. The PoK government. Federal authorities. All the big political players needed to step in immediately. They had to restore order. Make sure local resources were actually being used for people’s welfare. And keep that whole electoral process running safely.

Still, underneath all that internal friction, the PML-N stuck to its core position on the main issue. They issued a formal statement reaffirming their commitment. Self-determination for the Kashmiri people. This had to align with what the UN Security Council resolutions already established. That part was firm.

Sharif wrapped up by asking everyone to find some brotherhood, some harmony, some tolerance across the country. Especially after hearing about Pakistan’s defense institutions managing their operations and achieving things. He vowed they would work with all democratic forces to finally bring peace back to PoK. But he also told the local people the residents to keep that deep emotional and ideological link to Pakistan. Don't do anything that just makes the lawlessness worse.
