Shiv Sena UBT Political Developments and MP Defection Speculation

Shiv Sena UBT. The whole thing is moving in strange directions right now.

There’s this talk about six Shiv Sena MPs potentially crossing over to the Eknath Shinde side. But that move? It seems stuck for now. No formal induction happening Friday during those foundation day celebrations, sources are saying. That speculation just fizzled out there.

Both sides the Uddhav Thackeray faction and the Shinde group are marking sixty years of whatever this whole undivided Shiv Sena thing is on Friday. A milestone, maybe.

People were really hoping for a formal switch at that event. Six UBT MPs joining the Shinde camp during the NESCO gathering in Mumbai. That was the big rumor hanging in the air. But that didn't happen. It got deferred.

The Shiv Sena leadership pushed back hard on these stories. They dismissed the claims about those six Thackeray faction members showing allegiance to Shinde’s side for the foundation day.

It all really kicked up steam because of something earlier. Six MPs skipped a parliamentary meeting in New Delhi on Thursday. They ignored the whip issued to them. That wasn't smooth sailing, not at all.

Nagesh Patil-Ashtikar, Sanjay Deshmukh, Sanjay Jadhav, Sanjay Dina Patil, Omprakash Raje Nimbalkar and Bhausaheb Wakchaure were the ones missing that meeting. Only a few showed up: Arvind Sawant, Anil Desai and Rajabhau Waje. It just shows the gap is getting wider inside the UBT camp.

Sanjay Raut, who’s in Rajya Sabha for Shiv Sena (UBT), made things official on their side. He said show-cause notices were served to those six MPs. Action has started against them now.

“The process for taking action has started,” he told reporters. “We will make every effort to get them disqualified.” That’s the line they are drawing now. They want to use anti-defection rules. They appealed to the Speaker, urged action based on Supreme Court directives. Standard legal maneuvering, but heavy with tension underneath it all.

Talk of defection really got louder after Chandrakant Raghuvanshi, an MLC, made his claim. He said those six MPs had clearly expressed confidence in Shinde’s leadership. They were ready to jump ship.

This reminds you back to 2022. That whole split with Shinde breaking away from Uddhav Thackeray and a big group of MLAs. That was the original fracture point, that division inside the party structure.

So Friday's celebrations? They were expected to clear things up about those six MPs. Instead, sources now tell us any formal joining is postponed for the time being. The dust settles differently than anyone thought it would. It’s all just shifting ground.
