The Immense Stress and Tragedy Surrounding the NEET Aspirant Crisis

The student, Anunkeerthana, she was preparing for NEET , trying again. It sounds like a massive weight just sitting there. Preliminary reports suggest she was really under immense stress. Media whispers are running that candidates who got caught in the recent question paper leak would have to sit for the exam all over again. That kind of pressure… it’s suffocating.

This whole thing, this series of deaths tied up with NEET aspirants, it just keeps happening. It feels like a mounting pile of tragedy lately.

Coimbatore saw demonstrations erupting because of this mess. People were screaming for NEET to be scrapped entirely. The ruling party there the DMK they’ve been pushing statewide protests too. They want Tamil Nadu to get an exemption. No entrance test, just let the medical students come in. It’s a long-standing demand they keep hammering on.

Tamil Nadu has always fought this one. They argue that NEET is unfair. It benefits those who can afford those pricey coaching classes. But for the rest of us? For folks from rural areas, from government schools, poorer families we get left behind. We score well in Class XII exams, sure, but it doesn't seem to matter when you need a seat in medical school.

Before all this became mandatory, admissions were based purely on those Class XII scores. Supporters of that old system argue it was fairer. It meant more students from underprivileged backgrounds could actually pursue medicine. That feels like a different kind of reality entirely.

The state Assembly even tried to push for an exemption before. They cleared some legislation asking to skip the NEET test. But that proposal just didn't get the Green light from the president. So, the entrance exam stuck around anyway. It persisted.

And this latest one… it’s just another thread in a very dark tapestry of recent losses involving NEET aspirants. Earlier this month, there was another death. A girl in Delhi. She allegedly took her last breath after sitting for the exam for the first time. Police found a handwritten note. An apology to her parents for not living up to expectations. It’s heartbreaking stuff.

Then there was the case from Dehradun. A 23-year-old, bright student who had been working so hard for NEET preparation. Reports say she died by suicide. Stress over that re-examination must have been too much. Investigators found a note too. Just a simple expression of love and apology to her parents. But officials said they didn't see any big shifts in behavior before it happened.

It’s all connected, isn’t it? These aren't just isolated events. They are symptoms of something bigger boiling underneath the surface about this whole entrance test situation. The pressure cooker is just getting hotter.
