Iran-US Tensions and Drone Conflict near the Strait of Hormuz

Iran is claiming it wiped out a US drone fleet in Bahrain. That’s what they said on Sunday, right as things got hotter between Washington and Tehran over those fights escalating near the Strait of Hormuz.
Their state news agency, IRNA, reported that Iranian drone operations against US military spots in the area were still going on. They insisted a whole American drone fleet stationed in Bahrain had been destroyed. You can’t really check that claim, though. It just floats there.
Meanwhile, Iranian media also threw around talk about “destructive drone” attacks hitting US positions in Kuwait. Targeting defense systems, missile setups, bunkers all of it. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for strikes on bases owned by Ali Salem and Ahmad Al-Jaber in Kuwait.
These reports came hours after the US military announced a fresh wave of strikes. Central Command said American forces hit dozens of targets across multiple spots using precision munitions. The goal? To weaken Iran’s grip on anything moving through the Strait of Hormuz, trying to mess with those oil routes.
What exactly did they hit? The US military listed Iranian air defense setups, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, plus some small naval vessels. CENTCOM mentioned fighter jets, naval assets, and these one-way attack drones new stuff they were testing out for the first time in this kind of operation. Sea drones, too.
A spokesperson from the US military said those strikes followed an alleged attack by Iran’s IRGC on a commercial ship trying to sneak through that strategic waterway.
It just keeps escalating. This whole exchange marks a sharp jump in the standoff over Hormuz. That strait is huge for energy. It links the Persian Gulf straight to global markets, and it’s always been where Washington and Tehran push each other hardest.
Tehran countered that these latest strikes completely ruined months of diplomatic talk. They said at least one person died and four others got hurt in a US strike on an agricultural water pumping station near Mahshahr. Relations between the two countries are just getting worse, it seems.
