Mandira Bedi on Therapy After Losing Husband and Film Promotion

Mandira Bedi finally spoke out about therapy after losing her husband, filmmaker Raj Kaushal . She said it really helped her get through some of the hardest parts of life. Professional counseling played a huge role when she was dealing with that massive loss.

She brought this up while promoting her new film, Max, Min and Meowzaki . It was during the trailer launch. A bit heavy stuff, maybe?

Mandira mentioned that seeking therapy isn't just something she started right after Raj Kaushal died back in 2021. No, it’s been going on for ages. She’s consulted therapists and counselors for nearly twenty years now whenever things felt too much. When she felt unbalanced or overwhelmed that was the routine.

She recalled how her family reacted when she first talked about it. There was this whole reaction. Her mother asked why. What happened to her? Mandira just said she needed to figure out what was going on inside her mind. And her mom, she just said, ‘You could have talked to me.’ No. She wouldn't let that be the end of it.

The story about Raj Kaushal is where it gets really emotional. Losing him in 2021, that heart attack at fifty it shifted everything for her. And therapy? It became this anchor. A source of healing when everything else felt completely broken. That’s why she turned to it then.

Of course, you have the background stuff too. Mandira and Raj Kaushal married way back in 1999. They had their son, Veer. Then they adopted Tara in 2020. A family life there. It all happened before the big silence broke about her mental health journey.

Now, moving on to the film itself. Max, Min and Meowzaki . That’s what she’s working on next with director Narasimha Murthy. The trailer is out now. It follows Max and Min. A young couple whose relationship just crumbles during a really rough time for Max. He struggles so much to move forward after that heartbreak. And then he finds this comfort in a cat named Meowzaki.

Medha Shankar, Siddharth Menon, Adil Hussain they’re all in it too. Plus Nafisa Ali. It's a big cast. The movie is scheduled for release on July 24th, 2026. Time will tell how that plays out.
