Shahid Kapoor and Ahmed Khan: The Story of Friendship and Collaboration

Shahid Kapoor and Ahmed Khan. Their friendship started way back, childhood stuff. Ahmed was the one who choreographed Shahid in his first big screen thing that iconic 90s pop track by Aryans that featured him and Hrishitaa Bhatt. Instant heartthrob status right there.

They kept collaborating on a few projects over the years too, but things got weird eventually. Reports started swirling around 2015. A real tiff began brewing between them.

Back then, the grapevine was definitely buzzing about them falling apart. Ahmed couldn't make it to Shahid’s wedding to Mira Rajput. He was really upset with him. So he refused to speak to Shahid at an award function. Weeks later? Ahmed shared that Shahid hadn’t even visited him when he was seriously ill, bedridden from vertigo attacks.

Now years later, Ahmed finally breaks the silence about their equation and what kept them from working together as a director-actor duo.

“I did Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra and his first film Ishq Vishk as a choreographer,” he told News18 recently. “Then I directed him in Fool & Final .”

He then said, “After that, I produced Paathshala , where he played a role. But lately, he’s following this specific template of films he wants to make. I’m making something different,” Ahmed added. It’s complicated.

Is there any hope they’ll work together again soon? “We’ll come together when we’re on the same page about what kind of films we want to do,” Ahmed remarked.

“I know if I bring a script to him now, he’ll jump into it. But honestly? It’s a fifty-fifty scenario.” There’s this underlying sense that they just don't catch up anymore. Their lives have gone so far in different directions.

He admitted that they don't meet much now. Childhood friends, right? They became friends when Ahmed was eleven and Shahid was just seven. So, the friendship started about thirty years ago. But then things change. You make so many new friends, you start forgetting who your actual real ones are. Our lifestyles just shifted.

“I mean, we don’t meet much,” he sighed. “We are childhood friends.”

He brought up his kids too. His sons have become his confidantes, and that’s something he values. “My sons are all grown up now. I’ve gained two real friends in my life Azaan and Subhaan. Azaan is twenty-five, Subhaan nineteen. They talk to me about cinema, how films should actually be made today.” That’s Ahmed talking about his kids who fill that space now.
