US-Iran Tensions and Strikes in the Strait of Hormuz

US-Iran stuff right now. The Strait of Hormuz is really the sticking point again.

Monday, Central Command CENTCOM said they launched more strikes against Iran. It was in response to those attacks on ships moving through that strategic waterway.

The goal, according to the military, was supposed to be degrading their ability to hit civilian mariners and commercial vessels.

They put it out there on X: five p.m. ET today, U.S. Central Command forces started hitting targets in Iran. They wanted to keep messing with them. Keep them from freely moving ships through Hormuz.

Admiral Cooper, the commander in chief? He said the strikes were meant to hold Iranian forces accountable. A statement kind of that.

And then, things flipped fast over to Tehran’s side. State media immediately reported missile and drone attacks on what they called enemy bases. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced they hit Jordan’s Prince Hassan Air Base with drones and missiles.

West Asia is still boiling. It always seems to be.

But this time it got worse again. Sunday, the US military launched another wave of strikes. That came after some allies got targeted too. Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar they all got hit by incoming fire.

Iran reported striking two southern islands that evening. Meanwhile, Kuwait claimed border posts and an offshore oil platform were under attack.

It all just keeps escalating. Remember that commercial ship? Iran targeted it early Sunday while it was crossing the Strait of Hormuz. The crew had to jump off because the ship caught fire after the strike. Just another piece of chaos rolling across the water.
