The Batman: Part II Casting and Plot Speculation

Casting for The Batman: Part II is getting weirder. The mystery around it just got thicker.
Ever since Matt Reeves showed those new additions, fans have been spinning theories about who will fill Gotham’s roles in this next chapter. Guessing which iconic characters the actors are bringing back or introducing feels like a full-time job now.
Robert Pattinson’s sequel is definitely going to throw some new faces into the city. Reeves did confirm some names, though. He shared them through GIFs on X Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, and Sebastian Koch. But he kept quiet about what they were playing. Just silence there.
For months, everyone pegged Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent. You know, the district attorney who turns into Two-Face. But that might just be wrong now. Independent journalist Jeff Sneider is throwing some shade at that idea.
His newsletter suggests something else entirely. Brian Tyree Henry is reportedly playing Harvey Dent. And Stan? He’s rumored to be Victor Zsasz. You know, the serial killer who counts his victims by carving marks into his skin. Zsasz lore. It just fits the mood.
There was that comment Reeves made back in September 2025. He suggested the main villain hadn't appeared on screen before. That little remark already got people speculating about which lesser-known Batman villains might show up next. A lot of possibilities there.
Then there’s the other cast speculation. Scarlett Johansson was rumored to be Gilda Dent, Harvey Dent’s wife. Charles Dance was thought to be Dent's dad. But that whole setup? It might just be smoke. If the new reports hold water.
Another big thing floating around is the Court of Owls storyline. That secret organization. The elite families who supposedly run Gotham from the shadows for generations. It feels like something they could pull in.
Stan himself talked about it recently. He was in an interview with Deadline at Cannes last month. He sounded kind of unsettled. “I’m excited, I’m nervous and trying to keep surprising myself.” He joked that he was playing "many roles." Nervous is the word you hear.
Besides the main cast, there are some familiar faces returning too. Colin Farrell is back as Oz Cobb. Jeffrey Wright is Jim Gordon again. And Andy Serkis plays Alfred Pennyworth. Then there’s Jayme Lawson and Gil Perez-Abraham coming in as Mayor Bella Reál and GCPD officer Martinez. Just more people moving around Gotham.
The whole sequel seems set up to follow Batman digging deeper into the city's corruption. Growing tensions everywhere. It’s about that kind of slow burn, isn't it?
Production is already moving. They are filming in multiple spots across the UK. Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden is involved. The release date looks far off, though. October 1, 2027. A long wait for this stuff to come together.
Meanwhile, things aren’t just happening on screen. The Batman universe keeps stretching out. You got The Penguin . That spin-off starring Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti premiered on HBO in September 2024. It actually ended up winning awards. It's a real thing now.
