Arvind Kejriwal on the Legality of the Ayodhya SIT and Theft Allegations

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor for the Aam Aadmi Party, started poking around the legality of this Special Investigation Team. It was about the SIT set up by Uttar Pradesh to look into the supposed theft of offerings at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He called it all fake a total sham.

He brought this up during a press conference. The main point was that the team had zero legal footing. You can’t form an SIT without an FIR, plain and simple. That's just how the law works.

Kejriwal went on about what the SIT actually does or doesn’t do. He argued it has no real power whatsoever. No authority to summon people. No power to make arrests. No raids allowed. It can't do anything meaningful. He said it exists only to cover things up, to hush everything up, and protect the big names involved in this mess.

He pointed out that earlier stuff. Remember the SIT from 2021? The one dealing with land irregularities in Ayodhya? Allegedly, no FIR was ever filed then either. And whatever probe happened back then? Nothing came out of it.

“In 2021,” he stated, “there were these big allegations about leaders buying up land in Ayodhya, doing all sorts of shady stuff. An SIT got formed, right? But still no FIR. Now? No trace of that team even exists. People will forget about that one soon too. This current SIT? It’s just going to sit there and do nothing.”

Then he touched on who was actually being looked at. He suggested the media reports are telling you something different. Only lower-level employees seem to be getting questioned. The real people, the higher-ups allegedly responsible for this whole thing? They remain untouched.

He made it clear that if theft of offerings was happening over months or years, it couldn't have been without some kind of protection from above. He insisted those in charge were shielding the culprits while only the small staff got looked into. It’s all about who is protected here.

Kejriwal then swung the focus to the bigger agencies. Why isn't this handed over to the CBI or the ED? That’s the real question he asked of the state government. If they genuinely wanted to catch the actual wrongdoers, why keep it local? Why not send it to the Central Bureau of Investigation or the Enforcement Directorate?

“If they really want justice,” he pressed, “why isn't this case being sent to the CBI and ED? Every Hindu and Sanatani is asking. Why no FIR yet? Why no transfer to those agencies?”

Meanwhile, Sanjay Singh, who’s an AAP MP in the Rajya Sabha and also handles things in Uttar Pradesh, jumped into the fray too. He slammed the SIT, calling it nothing more than eyewash a jhunjhuna . He mentioned he had actually tried to get time from the SIT back in June 2020 just to present some evidence.

Singh brought up his own set of claims regarding land deals linked to the Ram Mandir project. He alleged that parcels were bought at prices way above what they were actually worth.

And then there’s the stolen items. Singh claimed things like 260 kg of silver, plus offerings including Lord Ram’s padukas and a necklace all gone. But arrests? No arrests made. No FIR filed for these missing items either. It felt like the whole 'ED Party,' from the top down, was involved in protecting these ‘chanda-chors.’

He pushed hard that no real investigation by the ED or CBI had actually taken place yet on this matter. He asked for a proper court-monitored investigation instead. Since the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust was set up following Supreme Court orders, there should have been a time-bound SIT under judicial watch. The guilty people should have gone to jail. Instead? Just speeches and formalities are happening now. Public trust needs restoring, that’s what he insisted.
