Salman Khan's Experience Filming Sikandar and Personal Loss

Salman Khan was last seen in Sikandar with Rashmika Mandanna. But behind the scenes, things were really rough for him. He’d suffered a personal loss while that film was being made his close friend and politician, Baba Siddique, had been killed. That kind of shockwaves through everything. It hit the film industry, sure, but also political circles. Salman was just deeply affected by it all.

Security around him got much tighter right after. People were worried about threats. At the same time, he was dealing with a painful rib injury. Still shooting for the movie though. You see that contrast?

Vishal Vashishtha, who co-starred on Sikandar , actually shared something about that period. He talked about how Salman handled everything. Despite all the grief and the physical pain, he just kept going with work. It was a testament to his dedication, I guess.

When Vishal spoke to the Free Press Journal, he said Salman had shot Sikandar under really terrible circumstances. Mentally, emotionally, physically he was completely drained. But he pushed through. He said, “He was mentally and emotionally drained, and physically as well, he was going through a lot. We saw it ourselves; it wasn’t some made-up story, it was real.”

He described how Salman would walk slowly, somehow manage to finish the scenes. Then, when the director called cut, he would immediately go for physiotherapy. He needed to stay mobile because those action sequences demanded it. He was hurting, yet he kept showing up. There was a life-threatening situation happening outside, but he was still there. It was tough.

Vishal really praised that kind of professionalism. The actor just showed up every day, no matter what was happening off-screen. That resilience? It left a mark on Vishal too. He admitted that while the cast and crew were stuck waiting around in their vanity vans or on set for long hours, everyone understood the situation surrounding Salman back then.

They even pushed the action portions to a later schedule. They needed him to recover before tackling those physically demanding sequences.

By the final day of filming, Vishal noted things had improved a little physically. Before that? Struggling was the reality during the household scenes. Getting up from a chair felt incredibly difficult for him. You have to give people the benefit of the doubt because it was clearly a struggle.

Dealing with all the security personnel around you constantly? It just felt suffocating. A very difficult situation, really.

That tragedy itself happened in October 2024. Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra East, Mumbai. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, and the doctors declared him dead. Salman Khan was among those who went there right after the news broke. It all piled up. The pain of the personal loss mixed with the physical strain of filming.
