Social Media Reaction to Suspicious AI-Generated Workplace Email

A woman posted something online that got people talking. She shared an email she got from her boss. It approved her paid leave, wished her a speedy recovery standard stuff. But then there was this last line. That’s what caught everyone’s eye.

She dropped a screenshot on X, you know? And wrote something like, “my boss sent me this and the last line…” It immediately made people think. Like it wasn't all organic. They started guessing that some kind of AI tool had done the writing. That the email hadn't been checked properly before hitting send.

The Email Had An Unusual Ending

She showed the actual message. The subject line was simple: “Re: Feeling sick.” Fine, boss offered the leave time off. Nice enough. But then you read the body. It said, “Hi, Thanks for letting me know. Yes, it’s absolutely fine to take a day of paid leave tomorrow please take the time you need to rest and recover. I hope you feel better soon. Best.” Standard HR boilerplate.

Then came the kicker. Below that nice sign-off? Another sentence appeared. “Would you like a slightly more casual or more formal version?”

That line. It looked totally artificial. Like a prompt. A suggestion, maybe from some chatbot. The screenshot blew up fast. People started joking about relying on AI for workplace emails.

Social Media Users Suspect AI Was Involved

The comments section just exploded with reactions. People were immediately digging into it. One user asked a really blunt thing. “Do they just not read what they’re sending?” A bit harsh, maybe, but people felt that tension right there.

Then you had the defenders. Some folks argued for the tool. They wrote things like, “Using AI to write mails today is like using spellcheck. Aren’t you kids aware of this?” It was a defense mixed with annoyance.

Others just focused on the message itself. Someone said, “Say whatever you want, but it’s well written.” A compliment wrapped up in suspicion.

Then there were the outright guesses. Lmao AI generated. Another one straight up: “It’s definitely ChatGPT.” It felt like everyone was pulling names out of thin air just to explain what they saw.

Not everyone found it funny though. Some people weren't laughing at all. One comment cut through the jokes with real frustration. “Take an exit from the company as soon as possible.” That hit a different note entirely.

People were talking about who was in charge, or maybe how this technology was changing things. The whole thing just sort of spilled out online. It wasn't neatly ordered. It was just noise and speculation running wild.
