Vidyut Jammwal's Hollywood Buzz and the Street Fighter Adaptation

Vidyut Jammwal’s next big thing in Hollywood is already buzzing. People are talking about his upcoming movie, and it seems he snagged some serious attention from a massive name in action cinema. That’s Jason Momoa .

Momoa recently dropped some comments about sharing screen time with Vidyut in the new Street Fighter adaptation. It wasn't just casual chatter though. He really seemed to admire him. His praise focused on more than just acting ability; it was about presence, talent, everything.

“He’s one of the most beautiful-looking men I’ve ever seen in my life,” Jason said during that interview with Zoom. “He’s so talented. He’s unbelievable.”

But the compliments kept going. It got a little more personal, you know? The Game of Thrones actor wasn't just talking about the movie itself. He brought up India. He basically suggested Vidyut should help him get something done over there. He joked about making it happen.

“He should get me a job in Bollywood,” Momoa said. “He should have something set up for me. We should do something together. It’d be fun.” And then he added, “I can’t wait to come (to India) one day.” That kind of statement just hangs there, doesn't it? A real desire mixing with the celebrity world.

This whole thing ties into the movie itself. This is Vidyut’s first foray into Hollywood action. He’s playing Dhalsim in Street Fighter . And already, people are noticing how he looks. The promotional stuff has been wild. In those clips, you see him completely transformed. Shaved head. Striking red markings all over it. Then these rugged orange robes and metallic bits all that tribal styling brings the whole warrior vibe of Dhalsim to life. It’s a huge shift.

The cast for this thing is stacked, which makes sense for an action franchise. Besides Vidyut, you got Noah Centineo, Callina Liang, Cody Rhodes... then you have Orville Peck, 50 Cent, Jason Momoa himself, Oliver Richters, Hirooki Goto, David Dastmalchian, Roman Reigns, Andrew Schulz, Eric André, Mel Jarnson, Rayna Vallandingham, and Alexander Volkanovski. That’s a lot of names thrown into the mix.

The story itself is pretty classic video game stuff. It’s set way back in 1993. We follow these fighters, Ryu and Ken Masters, who are estranged, get dragged into this new World Warrior Tournament by some mysterious Chun-Li. It sounds like a brutal mess of fists, destiny, and pure fury. But underneath all that fighting? There’s some heavy conspiracy going on. They have to face off against each other, and the demons from their past. If they don't handle it? Game over.

It’s not the first time this franchise has hit the big screen. Back in ’94, there was a movie with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Raúl Juliá. Critics weren’t exactly thrilled with that one, but it made money. It pulled in ninety-nine million dollars worldwide. A solid commercial run despite some rough reviews.

Now this new version is being directed by Kitao Sakurai. The script came from Dalan Musson. And naturally, Capcom is co-producing this with the Japanese video game company. Paramount Pictures is handling the distribution side of things. It’s slated to hit theaters on October 16th. Just waiting for it all to roll out.
