Arrest of Woman Linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Terrorist Operatives

Monday saw another move by the Rajasthan Anti-Terrorist Squad . They arrested a woman from Jaipur. Allegedly involved in anti-national stuff. Suspected ties to Jaish-e-Mohammed , members of that Pakistan group.

Her name is Babita Dhakad. She goes by Khadija. Originally from Gangapur City.

The arrest happened after some intelligence came in. Things indicated she was connected to those who were acting against the nation. A senior ATS official told PTI about it.

The whole thing followed an investigation into these suspected links with terrorist operatives across the border. She was booked under UAPA , the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

SP Manish Tripathi , the Rajasthan ATS Superintendent of Police, said she’s in custody right now. Seven-day remand.

“We detained her,” he mentioned. “During surveillance and looking into things, we got inputs about activities that felt like a threat to national security.”

A key piece of the probe is finding these ties. Jaish-e-Mohammed surfaces in the investigation. SP Tripathi confirmed it. The group’s name popped up during the probe.

“We found information,” he said. “One person she was talking to might be linked to JeM. Right now, we are checking if she herself has any connection. No conclusions yet. Until this whole thing is finished.”

The investigation started because officials found evidence linking her alleged actions to banned organizations threatening India’s security and sovereignty. Specific things she allegedly did pointed the ATS toward immediate legal action.

They recovered info about phone numbers too. Numbers that seemed directly linked to Pakistan. Communication happened through WhatsApp, and other sources. It’s all under deep investigation, Tripathi said.

Investigators looked at her phone. Preliminary forensic checks showed she used two SIM cards. And a Facebook account. Stuff there objectionable material. Connections to foreign profiles were there too.

Her friends list? Some accounts had content. Symbols. Flags associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed and other extremist groups. Images of armed militants showed up there. It’s messy stuff.

The WhatsApp account itself? Conversations with multiple Pakistani numbers, plus other foreign contacts. Sources suggested some of those Pakistani numbers found in her list might be connected to terror operatives.

When they questioned her, she allegedly claimed she converted to Islam via a mufti from Pakistan over a call. Handlers were apparently planning for her travel into Pakistan.

The biggest hurdle? Getting the digital evidence back. She tried hard to wipe everything. A lot of her digital footprint erased before the arrest.

“She’s mostly wiped out,” Tripathi admitted. “But we are trying to pull it back.”

Forensic experts are working on recovering that deleted data. It could help figure out who she was connected to, who the network is, how involved she really was. The ATS is now focused on tracking her digital trail and finding those alleged handlers.
