Fire at Aliganj Coaching Centre: Arrests, Legal Action, and High-Level Response

Lucknow police started digging into the fire at the Aliganj coaching centre. Three building owners got arrested. Four officials are suspended right now.

The names of those caught? Virendra Prasad Shukla , Ramkrishna Upadhyay , and Tushak Krishna Jaiswal .

It all kicked off Monday afternoon when this three-storey commercial building in Aliganj actually blew up. It was a major rescue operation immediately.

What’s really grim is what happened inside. Students just jumped out of the first floor. Trying to escape the smoke, trying to get away from the flames. Videos caught those panicked moments. People watching on the ground, telling folks trapped inside to jump for safety while the firemen worked. It was pure panic.

But before the chaos, there was this background issue. This building wasn't supposed to be a commercial hub. It was approved for residential use. Yet, they were running it as a business since 2014. It’s all linked back to the Rameshwaram Group . Virendra , Dhirendra , and Surendra Pratap Shukla they seem to be central figures in how things operated there.

Authorities had already compiled a list. Sixteen people potentially facing action. Owners included. Engineers. Staff members who allegedly let this unauthorized commercial use slide.

An FIR has been registered. Sections under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, plus some fire service act violations. Six accused named. Legal proceedings are moving forward now.

The alarm came around three in the afternoon from that coaching centre on Usha Mehta Marg. The fire department responded fast. Fourteen fire engines rolled up there. Including a hydraulic platform vehicle. They had to bring those flames under control quickly.

Meanwhile, the political reaction was immediate. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stepped in. He announced an ex-gratia of five lakh rupees for each family of the deceased. And fifty thousand for the injured.

He visited King George’s Medical University earlier that day. Met with families. Assured there would be strict action against those responsible. He also inspected the building itself.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak went down to the site too. Monitoring the rescue work. He said they ordered a high-level inquiry. The Principal Secretary (Home) and the DGP were summoned on site. They were told to investigate everything. To make sure this kind of thing never happens again. He saw fourteen bodies himself.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke out. Expressed deep grief over the loss. Announced his own ex gratia two lakh for families, fifty thousand for injuries. His post on X just said he was anguished by the fire mishap in Lucknow and that rescue efforts were ongoing.

It’s a lot happening at once. The tragedy, the legal fallout, the panic inside, and the high-level response following it. It’s messy.
