Internal Dissent and Defections within Trinamool Congress

The trouble inside the Trinamool Congress just got worse on Wednesday. It really deepened.

Jadavpur Lok Sabha MP Saayoni Ghosh reportedly jumped ship, joining the rebel faction led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.

Sources are saying she actually contacted Dastidar. Extended her backing to that breakaway group. Signed whatever papers were needed to back them up.

This whole thing is happening right now. The Mamata Banerjee side already has massive internal rebellions brewing. MPs are openly questioning the leadership, aligning themselves with this dissident camp. It’s a mess, really.

Saayoni Ghosh herself seems convinced she doesn't see any future in the TMC anymore. That was her line.

What fueled that feeling? Well, sources close to her pointed out some major grievances. Lack of support from the party leadership during an election campaign. She felt completely isolated back then. Nobody seemed to stand by her when things got rough. And there was that part about being allegedly told to cut short her campaign. That just added to the sour feeling she had about the whole organization.

It’s a big deal, especially because of her position. Saayoni was recently made chief of the party’s women’s wing. She was supposed to be one of the prominent faces of the TMC. Now this happens.

This defection hits just hours after another major blow for the party itself. Remember that? Earlier Wednesday, Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev resigned from the party entirely. She stepped down from the Upper House. That made her the second MP in a week to walk out. Sukhendu Sekhar Roy had already gone before her.

People are watching this unfolding drama closely. It just shows how much unrest is building up within the parliamentary ranks. The turbulence isn't slowing down.

This move by Ghosh, joining the group it connects directly to the wider dissent. Remember Kakoli Dastidar’s claims from Monday? He was saying nearly twenty TMC MPs had started looking toward the National Democratic Alliance instead of staying put. That faction he’s leading is now getting more members. It seems to be the core of this rebellion against whoever is running things at the top.

So, Saayoni joining in, Sushmita resigning it all points to something bigger. The political turbulence inside the TMC isn't just some isolated incident anymore. It’s intensifying fast. This poses serious new challenges for Mamata Banerjee and whatever leadership they have left. Things are really volatile right now.
