Vedang Raina's "Ishq Mastana" from Main Vaapas Aaunga: Behind the Music and Making

Vedang Raina just dropped this track, “Ishq Mastana,” from his upcoming film, Main Vaapas Aaunga , and honestly? it’s got people talking. It tugged some strings.
Choreography and On-Set Experience
Choreographer Ashley Lobo finally opened up about how he handled shooting that song. He was genuinely surprised to hear that Vedang was shot while battling a 101-deGree fever. I mean, I just never would have guessed that kind of thing would happen. It didn't show up in his energy or his attitude on set at all.
He said something like, “I’m really surprised to only learn now that he was unwell then. I had zero idea. It really didn’t affect how he worked or the vibe he brought. He just seemed incredibly quick. Professional. Dedicated.” That’s what he actually found about Vedang during those intense sessions.
Then there’s the dancing part. Lobo admitted his own style is kind of weird, unconventional maybe. But with Vedang? He was totally open to it. He watched everything. Took in every single direction they gave him. And the way Vedang absorbed it all and then just delivered more than you expected that was genuinely impressive. It felt like pure joy working with him, somehow.
The Music and Production
The song itself, “Ishq Mastana,” is a real mood. It mixes jazz, classical stuff, that Punjabi folk flavor. It’s got this old-style feeling to it, which works really well. And you can feel the history in it, especially with the whole team up: Imtiaz Ali, AR Rahman, Mohit Chauhan, Irshad Kamil.
AR Rahman handled the composition and production, obviously. Lyrics by Irshad Kamil. Singing Mohit Chauhan, Nargis Teji, Pooja Tiwari. It’s a proper package, that music.
Film Details and Cast
Main Vaapas Aaunga is directed by Imtiaz Ali. And the cast? Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina are all in it. The whole setup deals with partition, you know? Love and longing, really. It’s heavy stuff.
Vedang Raina's Reflection
Vedang himself weighed in about working with Imtiaz Ali during the trailer launch. He said it felt like being young, and honestly, honored. He talked about being part of an Imtiaz Ali film even at whatever age he was then being a privilege. It’s this really interesting title, being the youngest involved. He kept repeating that it was the most amazing thing that could have happened to him early on in his career. A real thank you for that experience.
The whole movie is slated to hit theaters June 12th, 2026. That gives you time to wait a bit more.
