Prateek Kuhad's New Single and Album: Exploring Identity and Emotion

Prateek Kuhad just dropped a new single, “If I Cannot Be Yours.” It comes after Blush, which was the first track from the album they were working on last month. And now this. It’s all tied up in Full Moon Chamber .

The new music video is out too. It gives you another look at that emotional landscape of the album. Just another piece of it.

This single itself deals with a heavy question: “If I cannot be yours, darling, who should I be?” That line really cuts right to the middle of everything. Kuhad uses it to explore that messy space where love meets dependence and figuring out who you actually are when someone else defines you. It’s about realizing how much of your sense of self gets wrapped up in another person. Letting go forces you to look inward, you know?

Prateek talked about the song recently. He said sitting there, lost between identity and rediscovery that’s what this track is about. It explores that unsettling feeling. Wanting to walk away from a relationship but also terrified of who you might become if you do. It hits that spot where so much of your identity feels tethered to someone else. And then you have to face yourself alone.

The album, Full Moon Chamber , is coming out July 10th. That’s the worldwide release date for the full 14-track thing via Atlantic Records. It marks a shift. It's his third studio record, and it feels like he’s turning inward again. He spent time writing and recording this stuff between New York and Los Angeles. It’s all about love, identity, belonging, and just feeling things deeply.

It seems to trace a path from some real emotional turmoil toward something quieter. A sense of balance. Self-awareness. It feels intensely personal, like he's laying out his inner emotional spaces for everyone to see.

They brought in some outside help too. LA producers Nick Ruth and Mike Irish worked on the track. Ruth has done some big things, working with names like Kelly Clarkson. He helped shape the sound of Full Moon Chamber , making it feel unified.

Kuhad’s background is pretty deep. He’s been one of India's singer-songwriters for over ten years now. People always praise how he manages to make intimacy feel huge, even when the music sounds so vulnerable and melodic with cinematic details woven in.

He got his start with a couple of early EPs that introduced him. Then came the full debut album, In Tokens and Charms , back in 2017. That one got some serious recognition, earning Indie Album of the Year honors from iTunes. Later, the EP cold/mess in 2018 hit No. 1 on Spotify India. That cemented him in the independent scene.

He kept moving forward. With Kasoor in 2020, that was the first independently released track in India to snag a spot on Apple Music’s all-genre chart at number one. Then came The Way That Lovers Do in 2022. That album saw tracks like Co2 really take off in terms of streams.

Now with Full Moon Chamber , he's taking that momentum and turning it back inside. He’s headlined big festivals, Lollapalooza India being one of them. He’s done tours across North America, Europe, the UK, Asia, the Middle East. And now this project feels like another major chapter all about longing and identity through his unique sound. It's just happening.
