The Controversy Surrounding Kala Hiran and Salman Khan

The noise around Kala Hiran: The Battle For Legacy just keeps getting louder. Govind Namdev stepped away from the film because he didn’t want to be caught up in the story against Salman Khan. Director Bharat S Shrinate said something about it, unlike the veteran actor who claimed ignorance about what was actually happening with the movie. He said he was right in the middle of it all.

The first look video for Kala Hiran really kicked things off. It dredged up talk about the 1998 blackbuck poaching case that supposedly involved Salman. The teaser showed Kashif Iqbal Khan playing Ayaan Khan, someone who looks a lot like Salman, complete with that signature turquoise bracelet he always wears.

Bharat is pushing back hard now. He insists, “That bracelet isn’t some special thing you can patent. If Salman feels only he should wear it, then he should get it patented. It shouldn't be locked away somewhere else in the world.” He clearly disaGrees with the whole idea that this film or this character is based on Salman Khan. This is just a film. End of story.

But there’s the resemblance question. Kala Hiran didn't use any prosthetics, right? Bharat pointed out, “Our actor naturally looks like Salman.” He pushed back against him trying to alter appearances. You can’t change how someone looks. What can you even do? If people are having trouble, what am I supposed to say?”

Meanwhile, Salman has taken a different route. He approached the Delhi High Court asking for a stay on Kala Hiran . His lawyers argued that the film also breaks some rules about protecting his personality rights.

Bharat reacted to this legal move with frustration. He shot back at Salman, saying he isn't some kind of god or godfather figure. “Salman Khan isn’t god. He isn’t my godfather,” he said. “He can’t stop me. Neither can he destroy my career or mine.” Still, the maker doesn’t mind the arguments about his film itself. But that legal notice? That didn't sit well with him.

“I welcome healthy discussions,” Bharat admitted. “Everyone has a viewpoint. Cinema is supposed to spark conversations.” Yet, there’s this feeling of being stalled. He continued talking about how much effort goes into making something. “A lot of planning and research goes into writing and making a film. We planned this for years.”

Then he turned the argument back on Salman. Bharat urged him to just watch the movie before jumping to conclusions. “Sending a legal notice in one go means stopping all that hard work,” Bharat insisted. “He’s doing it because he feels the film is about him. He should go see it first and then decide.” It felt like someone was trying to block years of planning with a single legal move.
