The Fallout of India’s Got Latent Controversy

India’s Got Latent episode caused a real mess.

He mentioned the episode itself was shot back in November but didn't drop until February.

The anger against Latent just exploded on our episode. That’s what I think.

Ashish recalled he had actually warned Ranveer to pull back. He asked him to tone it down. But Ranveer just wasn't listening. He kept trying to play it cool, joking around.

“Even when we were there, Ranveer was trying to be chill. He said funny things. I told him during the break, ‘Ranveer, slow down a bit; this isn’t the time.’ But he just said everyone comes there unhinged. They come in a fun mood.”

Ashish felt like things went too far. He told his team that what Ranveer said made things go too far. But then he added, the format of Latent lets things get unhinged, so he didn't really think much of it at the time.

The core issue, of course, was that specific moment. Ranveer asked a question on the show that really set things off. It was something like, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?”

Things got really serious when the National Commission for Women stepped in. Ranveer was forced to issue a written apology. Later, the Supreme Court stepped in too. They gave him some interim protection from arrest. But the court didn't mince words. They called his remarks “vulgar” and suggested he had a “dirty mind” that was shaming society. It’s a complicated fallout.
