The Impact of Sharing Trauma and Healing

Then the episode dropped, and things shifted fast.

Gautami came out in full support.

It hit hard. She said he made her cry. She saw a beautiful perspective on the world we live in because of it. #LockUpp2 was well done, she wrote. A show with a difference.

Gautami’s reaction was different. Earlier, she just posted something simple: “Owned your truth. Proud of you.”

Riteish echoed that sentiment. He commented publicly, so proud of Ram Kapoor for owning what happened to him.

Ram got really emotional sharing all that on the show. It felt like a release.

He started telling the story itself. The details were raw. He said he was molested in the boarding school. He was in his eighth standard then. Around thirteen years old.

During those school days, things happened in the dorms. Banter. Fun.

But then it changed. He touched him under the blanket. And there were thirty or forty kids around. Ram just froze. Couldn't move. No idea what to do. Should he shout? Or stay quiet? He didn’t know. But eventually, after some time, he told the boy. “I don’t like it.” The touch stopped immediately. The kid just left.

He shared that change was huge for him afterwards. He became silent. Traumatized.

But here’s where it gets weird. That boy came back later. It’s strange. The person who caused that trauma actually helped him come out of it. They became friends. Ram said, credit to him. He put in effort.

He added nobody in his family knew anything. Only Gautami Kapoor.

He felt the trauma still now, talking about it. No inhibition. No fear. No negative feeling just because he can’t fully understand them.

He insisted, “He didn’t commit a mistake. He was curious and hormonal. We were teenagers, man. I was thirteen, and he was fifteen.”

After all that, Ram just said: “He tried very hard to help me, heal me, and he did. I don’t wish this happened to anyone. Please don’t get me wrong.”
