Madhuri Jain Grover's Experience on Lock Upp 2

Madhuri Jain Grover got kicked out of Lock Upp 2 . It was a rough spot.

Farah Khan, the host, kept pushing her to show more personality. She even called her Shreya Kalra’s manager. One episode, Madhuri just exploded. She talked about being a manager it wasn't bad. She actually made a point that she earned money managing her husband, Ashneer Grover.

She said the hosts, generally, just demotivate contestants instead of actually telling them how to improve. That’s what she felt was happening.

Outside the show, she talked about it with Hindustan Times . She admitted getting hurt too. Wondering why Farah kept saying those things. She admitted, “I was getting hurt.”

But then there was this shift. She started to see it differently. A host’s job? To bring out what’s best in you. She realized Farah was trying to find something she couldn't give the show. Back in the first week, she just stayed closed off. Now she gets it. That’s what a good host actually does.

She mentioned that this whole provocation thing being pushed from the outside until the ‘Mata’ came out it led her to say whatever she felt. Being called a manager was the trigger for everything.

Then there were the living conditions. She said they were actually very comfortable. If Lock Upp is going to be written in someone's fate, she wished they got this version, not anything else. The place felt so good. Honestly, some people outside probably can’t even afford that kind of living setup.

She thought about it after coming back to Delhi. Where had she been? The conditions there were excellent. She wondered what the contestants expected. What did they think they were going to get in Lock Upp ? Were they expecting endless buffets with different foods every single day? What exactly were they imagining before stepping inside that house?

Before she even entered, she was just eating at home. Her mother-in-law made pav bhaji. She told her, “Eat properly now because you won't end up in jail.” If someone understood that simple thing, why didn’t the others? Madhuri never had any issues with food; she liked simple home cooking. The dal they served was her favorite. And she liked the palak paneer too.

The only real problem came with the porridge. She wasn't used to that kind of dalia at all. That’s why she ended up vomiting on the first day. It made her realize something important: people need to set expectations about food before they enter. They have to sort that out ahead of time. Lock Upp teaches you you just have to learn how to survive on simple, limited diets. That was the takeaway for her.
