Cab Ride Dispute and Safety Concerns in Pune

Three women were riding in an app cab when everything went sideways. The driver just asked them to make room for his male friend. It all happened late at night, somewhere in Pune, Maharashtra.

He gave them two choices: get off right there or deal with his friend. They both refused. They questioned why they should share a ride they had booked just for themselves.

The text from the clip was sharp. “Pune cab drivers are too much.”

At first, you could hear the driver telling them to find another ride. They didn’t budge. They told him he should have warned them earlier about what was happening. Why was he refusing their trip?

He just mumbled something. “Arre ma’am, 1 kilometre aap manage nahi kar rahi (Ma’am, why aren’t you adjusting, it’s just 1 kilometre).” That kind of excuse doesn't fly.

Then the driver revealed his real issue. He claimed he didn’t have enough CNG to reach their destination and then come back for his friend. He kept pushing them to “adjust” for another kilometer. The women stood firm. They insisted he should have told them before they even started.

One of them asked him if he was going to charge his friend, or just take half the fare from them. The driver shut that down immediately. Said he was just his friend. Then the passenger hit him with it. “We paid for this ride. You’re asking us to share a cab with some stranger. Is this professional?”

She added something else. If they had to squeeze in, they would never have booked the cab expecting a comfortable journey. The video cut off while the rider was just talking to his friend.

The whole thing blew up on social media fast. People were furious about the driver’s behavior. Asking women to share a private ride with an unknown man, especially late at night? That felt like a massive safety risk. Some people yelled for strict action against the driver. Others just praised the women for refusing to back down.

One comment hit hard: “This is very weird and horrible. It’s not about the last mile or the money. It’s about safety and security . They booked that cab because of privacy, because they needed it safe.”

Another one was just straight-up angry. “Girls are totally right here. No driver has the right to bring in any unknown passenger while a trip is happening. Even if it’s just five hundred meters.”

Someone else jumped in with a call for action: “The passengers need to report this immediately. The cab aggregator and the Police, they have to be involved.”

Then there was the defense from another side. Someone argued that the driver was completely wrong. Once someone books a ride, only that person should be allowed to travel unless they aGree otherwise. Asking a single passenger to let a stranger join them? That’s unacceptable. A serious risk.

A different voice just quipped about the women. “Commendable act by the girls for standing their ground and leaving him speechless.”
