Jason Sanjay: The Journey to Directing and the Film *Sigma*

Jason Sanjay, you know, he’s ready for the film world now. But there’s a twist here. He isn't jumping in as an actor. Nope. He’s going in as a director. Making his first feature, Sigma . It’s all about getting behind the camera for him.
Excitement is building around this project, naturally. And Jason has talked about why he chose direction instead of acting. What we hear is that focus was always on filmmaking.
He grew up around cinema. Spent time on sets, watching films from everywhere. That kind of thing sparked a real interest in storytelling and screenwriting for him. It led him to direction eventually, not acting.
There’s this story about him wanting it all. He actually mentioned that he had decided years ago that directing was his true calling. Remember when Malayalam filmmaker Alphonse Puthren offered him an acting gig when he was just twenty? Jason turned it down. He just wanted to be a director. “I wanted to become a director,” he said in an interview with Ananda Vikatan. That was the priority, always.
Sigma , this is his first feature as a director. It’s getting a lot of buzz, especially because of who his father is. A filmmaker’s son stepping up.
The plot details are still mostly locked away by the makers, but Jason described it. He called it something like a lone wolf story. Blending treasure hunting, some heist stuff, and comedy into an action entertainer. Sounds pretty packed.
Right now, though, more than anything else, he’s got this huge responsibility looming. Releasing Sigma successfully. That’s where his entire focus is right now. Only after the film hits screens will he think about acting or directing next.
The timing has shifted a bit, naturally. It was supposed to hit theaters on July 23rd. But things got complicated. Reports say they pushed it back. To avoid stepping on someone else’s toes. Specifically, avoiding a clash with Vijay’s big film, Jana Nayagan . An official date hasn't been announced yet, though. Still waiting on that.
