Routematic Launches COCO Rides: AI-Enabled Mobility Solution for Pune's IT Corridor

Pune’s Hinjewadi IT corridor is getting a new kind of solution. Routematic , a mobility solutions firm, rolled out something called ‘COCO Rides’ on Tuesday. It’s an AI-enabled shuttle service aimed squarely at cutting down the daily commuting headaches.

A lot of official bodies involved, which is typical for these big city projects.

The immediate goal, they say, is tackling the awful traffic jams and daily commute struggles right there in the IT belt.

It’s not just some small trial. The service actually got its start from the Infosys Campus Hinjewadi. That’s where they officially flagged off the shuttle. Stakeholders felt it was a real move, a step forward using tech to handle the city’s growing mobility issues.

Think about the scale. This isn't just for a few people. It’s set to serve over 1.25 lakh employees. That’s across more than eighty companies that fall under the HIA umbrella. Massive.

Routematic is planning a pretty big operation. They’re talking about running more than eighty buses across seventy routes initially. They’ll link major residential areas in Pune directly to those Hinjewadi office hubs. They’re planning for over 500 boarding points.

The capacity sounds huge too. In the first phase, they estimate it can handle up to twenty thousand passengers every single day.

How does it actually work? It’s supposed to be fully app-based. Employees from those HIA member companies can just pre-book their seats. No more guessing games on the commute.

The problem is, the traffic in Hinjewadi is already brutal. It’s getting worse with all the IT parks, the offices, and the new housing popping up everywhere. This service is trying to address that pressure cooker environment.

Sriram Kannan, who was there at the launch, mentioned they aren't stopping there. He said they’ve tested this concept in several corporate centers already. Now, they’ve brought COCO Rides to Pune. The next move? Expanding it. They want to take this model to other business hubs and cities soon.

Kavitha Ramachandragowda, another voice in the discussion, focused on the bigger picture. She emphasized that this isn't just about moving people faster. It’s about making the system sustainable. She stressed that the service should offer a reliable, affordable alternative.

She pointed out the environmental angle too. Less reliance on private cars. It’s about improving the overall commuting experience for everyone going to and from the IT hub daily. A real shift, maybe.
