The Weight of Vulnerability: Reflections on Attack and History

The knife attack . That’s what hit everyone hard, the whole nation felt it, you know? Saif Ali Khan, January 2025. A burglary attempt at his Bandra place. Just brutal.

But you have to remember the history, doesn't anyone? Broken into. In the dead of the night.

She talked about it recently, how she remembers Kunal Kemmu fighting the robber. A raw moment.

Soha told Yuvaa, it wasn't her best moment. But still, she felt useless. She admitted that her whole system just shuts down when things happen. She’s working on it. Trying to find a way to handle it all.

In an older chat, with Hauterrfly, Soha brought up that the whole situation felt… close. Literally.

She said that when her own flat got broken, ten years ago, that was 2011, when she and Kunal were just dating. And Kunal caught the thief then. Ten years ago.

It just kind of loops back.

Her mother’s flats in Mumbai. Both of them. Broken into.

It makes you think about proximity. About how close these things feel.

They heard something, too. An unusual voice. Coming from outside.

Kunnel went to check. And there was the intruder. Trying to get in. Things got ugly fast. The robber tried to run, lost his footing. Kemmu caught him. Handed him over to the police. That’s what happened back then.

She mentioned something about timing. Most of these things, she felt, they happen at dawn. Because everyone’s asleep. Deep asleep.

Her house, she recalled, was on the road. Easy to get to. Accessible. That kind of feeling, that sense of being exposed to the street, it’s something you carry.

Then you get to the present moment, the January attack.

Last year. An intruder tried to get into Saif Ali Khan’s place. Bandra. The motive was simple enough: robbery. But it went sideways. It turned ugly.

Confrontation. That’s what happened. Things escalated fast. Saif got stabbed. Seriously stabbed. Injuries to his spine, among other things.

Soha linked it all back. She said it was a security lapse. A failure. That’s what she felt was the root of it. That the system failed.

Saif ended up at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. Surgery followed. Multiple injuries. Just raw damage.

It’s a mess of moments, isn't it? A series of broken windows, a caught thief, a sudden, violent end. And all of it woven together by that strange, underlying sense of vulnerability. The feeling that you can’t control what happens when you’re just trying to sleep.

It’s all very close.

Just different costumes. Just different years.

That’s where the trouble seems to hide.

And Soha, she keeps talking about how things shut down.

Unstructured. Uneven.

The attack. The memory of the fight.

Just the residue of fear left behind. And that residue is heavy. It weighs on everything.
