Vijay's Public Rally and Political Stance in Tamil Nadu

Vijay, the leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam , held this big public rally in Tiruchirappalli on Monday. It was a thanksgiving, sort of. He used it to really hit out at the rivals, criticizing them for just starting to complain about his government, barely a few weeks after he took over.

He was talking about the DMK . He basically said, it hasn't even been a few weeks since we were in charge. Those who were supposed to stay quiet for six months? They started complaining in six days. It felt like the people of Tamil Nadu had just thrown out those two parties that kept switching power and just lied to everyone for years.

Then there was the personal side of it. He mentioned how people had chosen him, Vijay, as their elder brother, not just the Chief Minister. He framed himself as the chief servant who was working hard for them. He admitted they could have done better, but he thanked them for the support for TVK.

He seemed really confident, you know? About winning big in the next elections. He actually asked his rivals to keep criticizing him. Said it would help them perform better.

He also hammered home that the recent election was just a straight fight between TVK and DMK. No horse-trading nonsense. He accused the DMK and AIADMK of making some weird coalition just to stop TVK from winning.

The reason for the DMK’s poor showing? He pointed fingers at the whole 'family politics' mess. The drug problem. Crimes against women. That was the reflection of what people felt. He promised things would change under TVK. Corruption gone. An end to all that caste drama.

He brought up the voter turnout. It was huge. He compared it to the old days. He said even late CM MGR didn't get this much support in his first election. But today? The support for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam was tremendous. He wasn't comparing himself to MGR. MGR is MGR. But he was Vijay, following the path shown by MGR, Anna, and Periyar.

There was this strange bit about his clothes. Why a suit? He asked if they couldn't just wear a coat. Is it only for people in charge? He said no. It’s just black and white. Like our hearts. He said it meant he would be transparent. Simple. Black and white, just like everything.

He started this whole political thing by contesting from Perambur in Chennai and Trichy East. Even though he later stepped down from Trichy East, he insisted the people there would always feel close to him.

TVK changed things. They grabbed 108 seats out of the total 234. And this rally? It just happened right in the middle of a huge shift. A bunch of AIADMK folks and legislators had recently jumped ship to join the ruling TVK. Things were definitely moving fast.
