Kanhaiya Kumar Confrontation over Assam Infiltrators

Kanhaiya Kumar, the Congress leader, actually trained guns on Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday. It was all over the BJP’s promise about driving out infiltrators from Assam.

He was addressing a crowd in Bongaigaon when he made these moves.

“I said that the biggest infiltrator has come from Gujarat along with Himanta Biswa Sarma, and he too needs to be driven out,” Kumar claimed. That was the gist of it.

This came right after Shah had made a comment. Infiltrators in Assam had been identified. They would be deported. One by one.

That was Shah’s line. He had said that on April 9th in Patharkandi, Barak Valley.

Kumar, who was campaigning for Girish Baruah in Bongaigaon, pushed this. He brought up the state’s resources. He insisted that no compromise would happen there.

“People from our village and district work in Bongaigaon,” he argued. “But we still say that the resources of Bongaigaon and the property of Assam belong first to the people of Assam.”

He kept going. He brought up Gandhi. Not compromising with the British. He wouldn’t let the Constitution get erased. He won't make any compromise with these thieves.

It felt like a sharp moment. A real confrontation happening in the middle of the political noise.

Meanwhile, the polling in Assam finished up. The Election Commission said that.

The big picture, though. The NDA is still pushing for that third term. But the Congress side is looking for a different path. They’re trying to build something with the RJD and the CPI(M). A comeback attempt, that’s what it looks like. A different alliance is being sought.
