Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, and *Don 3* Legal Dispute

Ranveer Singh’s whole situation with Farhan Akhtar and Don 3 is now heading into court. It’s gotten messy.

TP Aggarwal, who used to be the head of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association, he’s moved to court. He’s challenging the action taken by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees—FWICE.

He filed a petition in the Bombay Civil Court in Dindoshi. The argument is that nobody—no group, no organization, no trade body—actually has the right to just ban someone or tell them not to work.

The court has already sent notices out to both FWICE and the IMPPA. It’s all starting to spin out of control.

Aggarwal himself said these kinds of moves really hurt people’s jobs and their creative freedom. He felt it shouldn't be handled so casually.

“These actions have serious consequences for livelihoods and creative freedom,” he put it. He insisted it had to be legal.

Then you had the reaction from the federation itself. Ashoke Pandit, the chief advisor for FWICE, stepped in. He clarified that it wasn’t actually a ban.

He spoke to ETimes, saying the whole conversation had gone wrong. It’s not a court. They can’t ban people. So they issued a non-cooperation directive instead.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh got some backing. CINTAA, the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association, is standing with him.

Padmini Kolhapure, the vice-president of CINTAA, said they stand by him. She mentioned that this is already public knowledge, so she didn't want to talk much more about it. They are there for him. If he needs help, they are there.

This came after CINTAA president Poonam Dhillon was pretty disappointed. She felt neither side had approached the association about this mess.

She said CINTAA would have liked to be involved. Either the artists or the production, or the Federation, should have talked to them if there was a problem. But since nobody reached out, they just don't have the full story.

FWICE’s action itself started the fire. They issued that non-cooperation directive on May 25th. This followed reports that Ranveer allegedly didn't respond to repeated calls to appear and discuss the Don 3 drama.

There’s also the money side of things. Excel Entertainment, the group backing Don 3 , is reportedly demanding forty-five crore rupees in damages from Ranveer over pre-production costs.

It’s weird, isn’t it? Ranveer left Don 3 in December 2025. That’s almost two years after he was announced as the lead by Farhan Akhtar. All this legal noise just keeps piling up.
