Sabrina Carpenter Fights Stalking and Seeks Restraining Order

Life in the spotlight, you know? It brings a lot of attention, but sometimes that attention just crosses a line. That’s what Sabrina Carpenter is now fighting for. She’s taking legal action following a bunch of scary stuff that happened near her Los Angeles home, things that just made her genuinely afraid for her safety.
She’s got a temporary restraining order now. It’s against a guy named William Applegate . He allegedly kept targeting her place, even though he had zero connection to her at all. The court filings floating around, which some outlets got, show a string of encounters that unfolded over several days back in May.
What’s wild is what she said in her declaration. She insists she has never met him. Never spoken to him. No desire to meet or communicate with him. That’s the core of it.
But the authorities weren’t buying the simple denial. LAPD Detective Peter Doomanis weighed in. He suggested the whole pattern fit what you see in stalking cases. He basically said Applegate had developed some kind of disturbing, irrational fixation on her.
It sounds like a pattern. It started getting weird, maybe as early as around April 20th, 2026 . The behavior matched those documented patterns of obsessional stalking. It’s a serious risk to safety, that trajectory.
Then there were the actual incidents. The one that really sticks out. May 23rd . According to Carpenter’s filing, Applegate tried to get onto a neighboring property. He tried to get past the security. And then he allegedly went right up to her front door. He forcefully pushed on the handle.
When he realized the door was locked, he just kept knocking. Ringing the bell. Refusing to leave. Police showed up. They arrested him right then. Ring camera footage ended up in those court documents.
And then there was the lie. Applegate claimed he personally knew her. That she was expecting him there. Carpenter absolutely shut that down. She wrote that it was all a complete fabrication. A total lie.
The harassment didn’t stop there. That’s the part that really shows the surveillance. Court documents claim he came back less than a day later. May 24th . He was back at her house. And then again, May 25th . He parked outside, just sitting there for hours, watching the property.
She described those actions as deliberate surveillance. Watching her movements. Watching her home. It wasn't an accident. It was intentional. Stalking. Surveillance directed straight at her.
So, the judge stepped in. There was a ruling. A temporary restraining order. Applegate has to stay at least 100 yards away. That means away from her house. Away from her car. Away from her workplace. And it covers her older sister, Sarah , and Sarah’s boyfriend , George , too.
He still has to face the music. He’s scheduled to appear in criminal court on June 18th for trespassing stuff. And there’s another hearing coming up on June 17th . They’re gonna decide if that temporary order sticks around for longer. It’s all moving. It’s messy.
