Events During the Monsoon Session and Student Protests

The Monsoon Session kicked off Tuesday. It wasn't smooth, not at all. Prime Minister Modi got together the NDA floor leaders for what they called ‘Mangal Milan’. Just a huddle, but it felt heavy with something else.

While that was happening in the Parliament Library Building, there were other things boiling over. The issues surrounding the NEET-UG 2026 test results kept coming up. And the massive student protest in Delhi on Monday? That followed right behind.

Modi spent time talking about it all. He pushed back on the noise. He really tried to tell everyone to show the students the right way, not just stir things up. It’s one thing to be on the wrong path, but getting back there is much harder. Responsibility , he said. That was the core of his message.

The immediate reaction in Parliament, though? Chaos. Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha saw an uproar. The opposition parties were loud. They didn't just want quiet; they demanded a discussion on these paper leaks. It felt like another layer of trouble piled on top.

What happened really unfolded on that first day. Day one was pure disruption. Opposition kept pushing, demanding answers about the leaked papers. But it wasn’t just academics causing trouble. There was the donation theft at Ayodhya-based temples coming into the discussion too. Something else snagged their attention.

And meanwhile, outside Parliament the protests were still happening. At Jantar Mantar, students were demanding things from Education Minister Pradhan. They wanted him gone over those leaks. A real clash of priorities playing out right alongside the session itself.

Amidst all that kerfuffle, there was a procedural move too. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal brought in the Supreme Court Amendment Bill for 2026. Aimed at increasing the number of judges. From thirty-three up to thirty-seven. Just another piece moving through the system while everyone else was shouting. It just kept moving, you know? The session dragged on with all these conflicting demands hanging in the air.
