IPS Probationer Hospitalized Following Suicide Attempt and Allegations

An IPS probationer at Hyderabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, he was hospitalized. Officials said this happened after a suspected suicide attempt.
The trainee in question is Uday Krishna Reddy. He allegedly consumed poison at a friend’s place on Sunday evening. Authorities haven't officially confirmed if it was actually an attempt to end his life. He’s currently being treated and stays under medical observation.
This whole situation followed days of complaints. A fellow IPS probationer had lodged accusations against Reddy. Stalking, assault, criminal intimidation and secretly recording a private video without consent. Hyderabad Police registered a case then under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions and some parts of the Information Technology Act.
But things got complicated with what came out later. In a two-page note recovered after the incident, Reddy denied everything. He claimed he and the complainant had been in a consensual relationship since June 2025.
He alleged that the connection kept going physically and emotionally even after she married someone else. He further suggested she constantly visited his room. She initiated intimate interactions there.
“On 9.7.2026,” Reddy wrote in that note, India Today reported, “she only came to my room telling me she felt intense sexual urge. She only kissed me and hugged me without any consent.”
Reddy also claimed he had recorded certain things as proof. He said he shared a video with the woman’s husband later on. Then he accused her of manipulating everything. False accusations of assault, all of it.
The woman, in her complaint, told the story differently. She alleged Reddy sent sexually abusive messages. He forcibly accessed her phone. Physical assaults happened multiple times. And that private video recording no consent. She also claimed he tried to ruin her reputation and blackmail her.
Police are looking into everything now. All these allegations are under investigation. Further action depends on what they find in the evidence gathered during the probe.
