FWICE Directive Against Ranveer Singh: Concerns Over Lack of Consultation

The whole thing about the Federation of Western India Cine Employees—FWICE—pulling back that non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, it just brought up a lot of questions.

Poonam Dhillon, the President of the Actor and Cine and TV Artistes’ Association, CINTAA, raised some serious concerns on Thursday. She felt the association hadn't been consulted at all. Even though CINTAA is an affiliate, they just didn't get a say in this. And she was surprised by Upasana Singh’s involvement in all this drama.

Dhillon spoke to ANI. CINTAA was genuinely surprised by FWICE just announcing that directive against Ranveer Singh without bringing in the affiliated groups. Unilateral moves . That’s never right.

“I was really surprised,” she said. “We are affiliates of FWICE. Any decision this big needs everyone involved. Unilateral decisions just don’t work.”

Then, FWICE decided to withdraw it. That was the next move. Dhillon said those actions have huge implications. It’s not just about one actor. Think about the lightmen, the technicians, the stunt guys, the costume makers. Thousands of livelihoods depend on those shoots.

“It wouldn’t have only affected Ranveer Singh,” she continued. “There are so many people whose jobs depend on those film sets.”

CINTAA had formally objected to how this was handled. They wrote to FWICE asking for an explanation.

And then there was Upasana Singh. When asked about her presence at the FWICE press conference, Dhillon admitted the association office-bearers had zero prior information about her.

“Upasana ji might have shown up on her own,” she explained. “But I had no idea she was going. If she was representing CINTAA, they would have to officially designate her. They would have to authorize it.”

CINTAA wasn't invited to the meeting. They weren't in the discussions leading up to this decision. Despite regular communication, it felt like they were completely shut out.

They were in touch right up until the day before. They even asked to use the CINTAA office for the press conference. And still, no consultation. None.

Dhillon was also surprised by the media reports. Apparently, CINTAA had appealed for the withdrawal of the directive.

“They said CINTAA appealed,” she noted. “I want them to show us that letter of appeal. We weren't part of that appeal process.”

The veteran actor hammered home something important: industry disputes. They should be handled through real dialogue. Established procedures. Not public confrontations.

“When things can be sorted out with respect and discussion, why make it public?” she asked. “There’s due process for everything. If you can’t resolve it, there are legal ways around it. I really feel due process was skipped here.”

She stressed that no single group—FWICE, CINTAA, or any producer association—should make decisions alone. Everyone needs to be consulted before actions that shake up the whole industry happen.

It’s just sad, she added. Instead of finding a solution, things are just getting messier. They always believe in involving everyone to find something that doesn't hurt anyone.

Earlier, Wednesday, FWICE announced they pulled back the decision. It happened after some intervention from the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association, IMPPA.

The film body called for something constructive. Amicable resolution. For the ongoing mess between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment regarding ‘Don 3’.

After some back and forth, and considering the appeal made by the IMPPA—a respected producer body—the FWICE statement read that the matter should now move toward a constructive and amicable resolution. They felt it was best for keeping some harmony in the entertainment world.

The whole situation, of course, was already gaining traction. The controversy over Ranveer Singh’s reported exit from *Don 3* was already being discussed, especially with his recent box-office hits like *Dhurandhar*.
