LG Electronics India's AC Sales Milestone and Market Strategy

LG Electronics India just hit a million AC sales in the first three quarters of 2026. That’s a big deal. It feels like the fastest start to summer the country has seen.

They chalked it up to solid execution, good distribution, and people finally wanting energy-efficient stuff. It really solidifies their grip on the Indian AC market, which is always so brutal.

The real kicker? They got their new, energy-efficient , BEE-compliant ACs out early. That let retailers and consumers switch over smoothly before the real heat hit. And they threw a big marketing punch during the Cricket World Cup. Visibility shot up instantly.

Hong Ju Jeon, the managing director for LG India, said it’s more than just a number. He stressed the trust millions of consumers have. And yeah, India is still a huge spot for them. They keep pouring money into making things locally, innovating, manufacturing.

They’re scaling up production too. That new plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, is coming online. It fits right into that whole Make in India push.

Expect more momentum next quarter. And there’s the cost factor kicking in. The GST dropped on ACs, going from twenty-eight percent down to eighteen. That should really push more folks to buy, especially first-timers.

It wasn't just one type of AC selling. They covered everything. Entry-level compact units, like the 0.8-ton models for small apartments. Then you had the premium stuff—the 2.0-ton, five-star rated range for those high-end homes. They even made sure the fixed-speed options were strong across window and split setups.

These new models actually think about the heat. We’re talking about remote pre-cooling, internal auto-cleaning for all that dust, and tracking how much energy you’re actually using. Trying to tackle those electricity bills.

And it’s not just staying domestic. LG is shipping these ACs out. To Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, and parts of Southeast Asia. India is definitely becoming a manufacturing hub for this stuff.

All this happens while the temperatures are spiking. Urbanization is pushing cooling needs up. People have more money now. And there’s that policy support for Green tech. It all piles up. The market just demanded it.
