Match Reflection and Team Performance

Despite a spirited recovery after a rough start, the feeling was definitely one of falling short.

“I think we were 10 to 15 runs short,” he said after the game. “We can talk about the wrong timing of wickets while batting. Naman and Tilak batted beautifully, they showed real character.”

The innings itself was tough.

Bawa nearly defended 15 runs in that tense final over before RCB just sealed the deal off the last ball.

“I think he had been practicing that kind of stuff—the death bowling—really well,” Suryakumar added. “He was a completely different all-rounder this year. Almost pulled it off for us.”

Then there was the fielding. The skipper appreciated Tilak’s athletic effort near the boundary during Krunal Pandya’s innings. There was that relay catch attempt, almost a stunning dismissal.

“I think these are the things you practice a lot with the fielding,” he continued. “The way Tilak came back and took the catch again showed he wanted to do something special. Part of the game, you know.”

Another big positive for Mumbai was Corbin Bosch. He claimed four wickets, keeping MI alive deep into the chase.

“In the Power-play and in all the other phases.”

Even with the disappointment of an early exit, the stand-in skipper still seemed hopeful. “I think we can just try and play this game because we love it,” he mentioned.
